  24. --------------
  25. EasyHelp/Web v2.82 is a very easy to use hypertext authoring
  26. tool for use with Microsoft Word 6 or Word 7.  It supports all
  27. language versions of Word and was specially designed for non
  28. technical users.
  29.  
  30. Most people know hypertext as 'Windows help' files, although
  31. nowadays, the most used hypertext is on the Internet in the 
  32. form of World Wide Web pages.

  34. Using EasyHelp/Web single Word source document can be used for 
  35.  - creating Windows Help files 
  36.  - creating Web pages (HTML)
  37.  - printing a paper copy of your document
  38.  
  39. Business users can significantly reduce the production and
  40. distribution costs of procedure manuals, telephone lists, 
  41. catalogues or just about any reference information.

  43. Programmers can easliy produce context-sensitive help files
  44. for their applications, complete with context numbers, browse
  45. sequences, keyword search and hot spot graphics.
  46.  
  47. If you have a Web site, use EasyHelp/Web to generate the Web
  48. pages and include on the site a complete WinHelp version of 
  49. your pages for the user to download and read off-line.

  51. EasyHelp/Web allows you seamlessly to include graphics in
  52. the hypertext files it produces, automatically substituting
  53. GIF and hot spot graphics files in place of the bitmap (BMP)
  54. which you include in the source document.

  56. This is fully functional shareware.  Until you register the 
  57. software, your generated hypertext files will contain a
  58. reference to the fact that they were authored with
  59. EasyHelp/Web.

  68. 2. What is installed with EZY282.EXE?
  69. -------------------------------------
  70. EZY282.EXE is an installion program which will configure
  71. EasyHelp/Web for any Windows PC (Win 3.1x, 95 or NT)
  72.  
  73. Most of the files are installed in the application directory
  74. (C:\EASYHELP by default) and a further two files are installed
  75.  
  76. easyhelp.ini - in your Windows System directory
  77. easyhelp.dot - in your Word template directory
  78.  
  79. The installation includes an 'uninstall' option which you can
  80. use to remove the complete EasyHelp/Web system.

  84. 3. Installing and Using EasyHelp/Web
  85. ------------------------------------
  86. Run EZY282.EXE from the Windows Program manager or Start
  87. button.  The installation program detects the operating system
  88. and through a few simple questions, asks how you want to
  89. install the system.  Any existing EASYHELP.INI file will NOT
  90. be overwritten.

  92. We recommend that you take the time to work through the 
  93. examples (starting at EX1.DOC which you will find in the 
  94. EasyHelp directory/folder and by clicking the 'EX1' icon).
  95. You will discover how easy it is to author professional
  96. looking hypertext files.

  98. EasyHelp/Web is a Word template which can either be attached to
  99. an existing document, or it can be selected when you issue the
  100. Word command 'File/New' - you select 'EasyHelp' from the list 
  101. of templates in your WinWord template directory.

  103. It gives you an additional set of editing tools which allow you
  104. to define a hypertext structure of topics and links within
  105. your Word document and then to compile it into independent
  106. hypertext files.

  108. From the same source document, you can create either Windows
  109. Help files or HTML web pages, suitable for uploading onto the
  110. World Wide Web

  121. (i)  Producing Windows Help Files....
  122. You must supply the Help Compiler (HCP.EXE v 3.10.505 (or
  123. greater)if you wish to produce help files for Windows 3.1x
  124. (HCW.EXE for Win 95 help files, although HCP.EXE will work
  125. acceptably with Win 95).  We are currently negotiating, with
  126. Microsoft to ship the help compiler with the EasyHelp/Web
  127. installation program.  You will then acquire a registered copy
  128. of the compiler on registration of EasyHelp/Web.  Upgrades
  129. for version 2.xx are *free*.  We include a file: COMPILER.TXT
  130. in the EasyHelp directory which explains how to obtain a
  131. free Microsoft upgrade to HCP.EXE.

  133. (ii) Producing Web (HTML) Pages....
  134. You must supply your own Web viewer for HTML files.  The most
  135. popular web viewers are Netscape and Internet Explorer,
  136. although there are many others available.

  146. ---------------
  147. You can try EasyHelp/Web for 30 days, after that you must
  148. register if you intend to continue using it.  The software is
  149. not time limited because we leave it to the integrity of our
  150. users to register in good time.

  165. How Registration Works
  166. ----------------------
  167. EasyHelp/Web is a fully functioning hypertext authoring
  168. program.  If you are running an unregistered version of
  169. EasyHelp/Web, each time you "Process" your file, you are
  170. prompted for your identification details and a registration
  171. number.

  173. Registration involves entering the correct registration number
  174. at the prompt.  The registration number will be sent to you
  175. either by Email or post, when your payment has been received.
  176. In the case of credit card transactions this could be within
  177. hours of receipt of the neccasry payment details.

  277. Eon Solutions was set up in 1995 by James Holroyd and is now
  278. co-directed by Jeff Hall.

  280. James Holroyd BSc MBCS CEng 
  281. A highly experienced IT consultant with 18 years experience,
  282. both in the public sector and the banking industry.  James is
  283. the creator of Eon's EasyHelp/Web authoring tool.  He is an
  284. acknowledged expert in the strategic implementation of large
  285. online documentation schemes.  He has experience at every level
  286. in the IT industry, from programming to strategic systems
  287. design. Being a Member of the British Computer Society and a
  288. Chartered Engineer, James operates to exacting professional
  289. standards.  He has a personal crusade to make computers as easy
  290. to use as possible.

  292. Jeff Hall MSc ARICS 
  293. Jeff originally qualified as a chartered surveyor, developing
  294. three-dimensional geographical information systems. He then
  295. graduated with distinction as an Operational Research
  296. Sceientist.  He spent ten years as a management consultant in
  297. the mining industry, eventually moving to a major IT
  298. consultancy in London.  Since 1993, he has been self-employed
  299. producing a variety of technology based training materials, and
  300. became the market leader in  developing sophisticated
  301. computerised business simulations (games).  His experience has
  302. given him a thorough understanding of how to use computers to
  303. communicate with all levels of users whilst maximising the cost
  304. effectiveness and added value of the technology.
